Ok...so it is official...Liam is completely weaned from breastfeeding! He has gone 3 nights now without nursing before bed and has done great. Will has just taken him upstairs, let him drink a little milk, and then laid him down in his crib. He usually cries for a few minutes but then settles down and goes to sleep. He doesn't wake up until 8 or 8:30 the next morning!
I must admit that it has been a little bittersweet to stop breastfeeding this time. Liam just loves to cuddle and nursing gave us that time together. Now I feel like he is all grown up and doesn't want to just sit with me anymore. But I know that he is just gaining his independence and that deep down he still needs his mommy! Now...what to do with those 25 + bags of frozen breastmilk in the freezer?
It does seem like he has just gotten really big overnight almost though. His newest thing that he LOVES to do is climb the stairs. He has gotten a lot of little pats on his bottom for climbing the stairs without someone being with him. But you take him off the stairs and take him into another room and he just goes right back to the stairs! He is persistent! Another thing he has started doing is pointing for things that he wants. If he is hungry he goes to the pantry door and points and yells. And if he is thirsty he will go to the fridge and point and yell. He points to go outside and he points to go into another room. He is also learning to point to a persons nose, ear, eye, and mouth. He can play pat-a-cake by himself (he really likes the roll it up part!) and if you say "where's Liam?" he covers his eyes. He is the smartest baby in the world!
