Family CornMaze Trip and Camping in the Backyard

Today our family, along with the rest of my family, went to a new cornmaze/pumpkin patch in Oliver Springs.

Nonnie was really wanting everyone to go and so she set it all up for us. (If I had to choose, next time I would want to go on a Saturday and not a Friday night...it felt rushed the whole time trying to beat the sun going down!)

This big black tube slide was a big hit with everyone!

The kids really enjoyed going on a ride in the corn barrels too!

Next, we headed up the hill to another play area

Taylor just had to have her picture made in one of these things!

Liam loved playing in this corn. He had a few older kids (Logan and Abigail, cough cough) who were teaching him to bury himself in the corn and try to dive head first into it. But they all had a great time! 

And of course they had fun playing on the big bouncy slide!

This little baby goat was the cutest thing! If I wasn't thinking clearly, I might have decided that we needed a goat!

Then it was time for a hayride to the cornmaze

They had a lot of fun with this!

We decided to split up from everyone going into the cornmaze. And I am really glad we did! We had a great time just us running around trying to find all of the checkpoints. 

It was kinda hard to figure out where you were going. They didn't give us a map or a picture of the maze or anything. And there weren't questions at crossroads like in some other mazes either. We were basically just walking around trying to happen upon one of those checkpoints!

I am proud to say that me and Will and the kids made it out of the maze first after finding all 6 checkpoints in order! I think the kids were just excited to be out of all that corn!

After the cornmaze they let us stop at the "pumpkin patch" which was very disappointing. It was basically a bunch of pumpkins thrown out in a field. And then we found out it cost extra to get a pumpkin! (Not cool after already paying $10 to get in!) But because our kids are extra spoiled by their Nonnie and Poppy, they got to pick out a small pumpkin and take it home.

Then they played on the black tube slide a little bit longer before it was time to head home. It was already so late and we were planning on camping in the backyard that night!

The backyard campout did not turn out quite like we had expected, but it was still pretty fun. After setting up the tent and looking in the camping supplies Will realized that our blowup pump didn't work. So that meant that we couldn't blow up our queen size air mattresses like we had planned. We should have just called it a night and went to the house knowing we weren't going to have the mattresses, but we decided to stick it out.

We brought the kids little couches down to the tent and decided they would sleep on them and then I put all of our blankets (minus 2 so we could cover up) on the ground and thought that it might be ok for me and Will to sleep on them and it not be too bad. 

Before it was sleeping time it was smores time!

Then it was time to go to sleep! I don't think Will wanted us to go to sleep quite so early, but the kids were tired and we had a cousins reunion to go to the next day, so we needed some sleep!

The kids did ok sleeping outside, but it was a horrible time for me and Will. Those blankets were definitely not thick enough and the blankets I kept out to cover up with were way to small to keep us warm! Taylor woke up around 5am and was crying a little saying she was cold. That was enough for me to call it a night and head up to the house with her!

Next time we decide to camp in the back yard we need to make sure we can have the blow up mattresses available and maybe not start the camping so late in the evening!
