Halloween 2010

So this Halloween season was a little crazy. As my previous post stated, life has just been crazy! Our plan was to take the kids to a pumpkin patch at some point before Halloween, but it just never worked out because I always had a paper to write or a test to study for or something.

So Taylor had got a big pumpkin from her school and Will took Liam by the greenhouse to get a pumpkin for him one evening. I was not able to be with them when they picked out those pumpkins, and I was kinda upset that I didn't get to see their little faces get so excited about picking out a pumpkin. So the Thursday before Halloween Will took us all back to the greenhouse and the kids picked out two little pumpkins. They were so excited to get to pick out the perfect pumpkin! It was nothing like a real pumpkin patch would have been, but I was glad that they got to pick out a pumpkin!

Anyways, Saturday was a busy day for us! First, Liam's friend Jenna Smith was having her 2nd birthday party that morning. It was a costume party so we got the kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes and went to their house. The kids had fun eating pizza and playing outside. The best part was that they got to go on a hayride! Taylor said it was freezing cold, but she had fun!

After the party we went home to rest up a little bit. I had a little bit of homework to do before it was time to get ready for Trick-or-Treating. They switched it to the day before Halloween this year since Halloween was on a Sunday. This worked out great for us because it gave us more time to get ready!


Here is our little Mickey Mouse and Belle!

Liam was Mickey Mouse last year, but he said he wanted to be Mickey Mouse again! And Taylor had just watched the movie Beauty and the Beast at the beginning of October when it came out on DVD (Will bought it for us the day it came out and we were so excited!) and she decided that she wanted to be Belle. She changed her mind a thousand times on what she wanted to be for Halloween. Luckily she decided on Belle and we could just borrow the outfit from Kimberly! So I officially spent no money on Halloween costumes this year! Yeah for me!

We started out by going to Grandma's house and then stopping by Sandra Helton's house and Candy and Reggie's house on the way back through. We came back to our neighborhood with the hopes of trick-or-treating with the neighbors, but they weren't quite ready yet so we just went down to Sarah and Rebecca's house (the kids' babysitters) and they gave the kids lots of great goodies!

Next we headed to Mike and Debbie Weaver's house in Hidden Acres and had a few snacks there and visited with Jessica and Mike and Debbie for a little bit. Next we headed to Mason and Joyce Goodman's house. They had made up cute little bags for the kids that had all kinds of good stuff in it! Then we headed over to Lila's house. She spoiled the kids as usual! Then we finally ended at Tim and Amber's house. Amber had made chili for everyone and so we got to eat supper and enjoy some family time. It was a long and exhausting day, but worth it all to see the look on the kids' faces. They were so excited all night about getting to say "Trick-or-Treat!" Liam would say trick-or-treat and then say "give me some candy!" It was really cute.

I am glad that Halloween for us has just become a day where the kids can dress up as something fun and go visit people. It isn't a scary holiday for us and it isn't about bad stuff. Just fun!
